The Challenge was to provide a distinctive collaborative free-flowing office incorporating 2 individual works zones and palpable executive areas, whilst implementing finishes equal to that of Serco’s London Cardinal Place office – all to be planned and constructed within an extremely tight time frame.

Executive and Operations/hot-desk works zones were separated by a central walk-through staff lounge, providing an ‘equal-terms’ location for informal staff interaction, but simultaneously separating the individual workplace environs. These work zones were backed onto a curved feature wall blemished with indentations of the Serco ‘lozenge’ (i.e. the logo), successfully separating front of house from the remaining fitout.

The gently curving and sensuous spatial organisational wall provides a beautiful transition between client arrival and open plan work spaces beyond. This aptly named ‘dragon wall’ not only masks the day-to-day open office operations but creates interest in an otherwise rudimentary, but necessary, circulation space.
