Concept
The Forest Killarney Football Club commissioned crawford architects to provide a new clubhouse and change room concepts to address multiple club requirements. These were the growing needs of an expanding club, a larger clubroom, requirements for a flexible community use space, updated change rooms that reflected modern requirements associated with an increase in female football, and foremost address an odd (and dangerous) existing condition where a carpark separated the clubhouse and change rooms from the fields of play. The solution: use an existing bank to tuck change rooms hard against the fields and provide and elevated clubhouse accessed from the rear. The orientation has the sun at you back as you view the game (no squinting into the sun) with a bar at your fingertips, with generous ventilated bunker-type player facilities, stores and canteen below.
