blackman clubhouse
Location: Lane Cove West, NSW
Concept
Blackman park junior football fields clubhouse is located on a steep slither of land between the existing upper synthetic fields and lower natural grass fields. The building tucks 4 flexible change rooms and a canteen into the grass bank which directly address the lower fields requirements. An upper-level club room has views across both fields, sitting directly behind (and protected from) the AFL goal posts of both fields. The V of the roof responds to the natural shape of the valley, the covered entry areas to the north present themselves as vestibules to the carparking, and the raft-type structure responds to the pre-field site conditions. It’s a small but versatile pavilion that provides a well-positioned, and well needed addition to the support infrastructure of Blackman Park’s sporting groups. The double sided outlook provided by the clubhouse, being able to view games on either side, is a unique design feature that adds to the versatility of this well-appointed clubroom space.
