These three houses are outstanding examples of how to build and remodel on this fragile beachfront and sand dune site with strong sea breezes.

By using a sensitive palette of materials and colours, the houses appear to have been thrown onto the beach like a jumble of driftwood.  Clad in western red cedar, which has been allowed to weather naturally, each house has extensive outdoor living spaces framed with hundred year old wharf timbers from Pyrmont (Sydney), into which, sliding permeable screens, provide moveable privacy and protection from the often strong and salt laden sea breezes. No gutters, no paint, natural garden, equals no maintenance which is the perfect recipe for holiday house living.
